Technical and Cultural Visit, 23rd July
Morning and lunch
Herdade do Vale da Rosa – the largest Portuguese table grapes producer known worldwide by its seedless varieties of superior quality.
The farm is located in Ferreira do Alentejo, which climate with over 3.000 hours of sun per year, high temperature and low humidity, is essential for the flavour, sugar content and nutritive value of the grapes produced. The vineyards are protected with plastic films and nets, that cover now-a-days an area of 230 ha. A plastic sea in the middle of Alentejo. (http://www.valedarosa.com/)
The program starts with a detailed visit to the several vineyards, during an intensive harvesting period, observation of the several types of grape varieties, structures and covering materials. Than the visit to the processing unit, including grape selection, packing, cooling and storing facilities. We will finish with an unforgettable Alentejano lunch, served in the middle of the vineyards under the shadow of the grape-vines.

Afternoon - Cultural visit
Monsaraz –historic medieval village located in the top of a hill, on the right margin of the Guadiana River in Portuguese Alentejo region, near the border with Spain. It’s one of the oldest Portuguese settlements of southern Portugal, occupied since pre-history. The monumental village exhibits various forms of art permanently displayed in the various historical buildings of this village. Monsaraz is a true Open Museum.
